This is the first kale smoothie that I’ve made. Kale is packed with nutrients and most of us need a lot more of it in our diets. A strawberry kale smoothie is an easy way to acquire a taste for kale by masking it behind the delicious strawberry taste.
Depending on your appetite for kale, you can modify this recipe to include as many leaves as you like. If you’re a beginner who doesn’t like kale very much, I recommend starting with just one kale leaf, and working your way up from there. Kale leaves are generally quite large, and one should be plenty to start with. Once you’ve acquired a taste for kale, you can add a second leaf, then a third. Even if you start out hating kale, you’ll grow to enjoy it. I used to think that kale tasted very bitter and unpleasant, but now I think nothing of including three leaves (sometimes four or five leaves) in my smoothie. It tastes great.
This smoothie is a bright green color, with little flecks of red and green in it. It has a slushy consistency similar to most of my other smoothies. This recipe makes about 2 servings.
